Genesis of Krishna Seeds

Reclaiming the Memory of Our Soil: The Nelamangala & Mysuru Soil Sanctuary

In the monsoon of 2014, across the undulating red soil belts of Nelamangala and Mysuru, an unsettling silence gripped traditional farming belts: generational seed vaults were vanishing. Smallholders were being tied to patented hybrid seed packets that could never be resown, requiring heavy cycles of chemical fertilizers and artificial stimulants.

Krishna Seeds was founded not as an agrochemical commercial supplier, but as a sanctuary. We set out on barefoot expeditions across the Western Ghats, Javadi Hills, and Kaveri basin, locating elderly seed-keepers — the venerated Beeja Mathas — who quietly stored ancient seeds inside clay-cowdung pots coated with neem ash and pongamia leaves.

Today, our living seed bank houses hundreds of open-pollinated landraces naturally acclimatized to unseasonal droughts, regional pests, and shifting cloudbursts. Unlike uniform modern hybrids, our seeds carry ancestral vigor, medicinal alkaloids, and deep regional flavor.

Traditional Kanaja Storage

Uncompromising Principles

The Four Pillars of Krishna Seeds

Our agrarian ethics guide every seed collected, cleaned, lab-tested, and packaged in breathable, zero-plastic kraft seed envelopes.

Pillar 01

Desi Germplasm Sovereignty

Every seed packet carries varieties completely free of terminator genes or corporate intellectual property clamps. You hold the sovereign right to save, multiply, and swap every harvest.

True-to-Type Open Pollinated
Pillar 02

Beeja Mathas (Seed Keepers)

We partner directly with grassroots tribal collectives and elder women farmers across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra who hold centuries of acclimatization and seed-selection intuition.

Direct Fair Remuneration
Pillar 03

Petri & Soil Field Trials

Each harvested seed lot undergoes germination testing across 3 consecutive batches in climate chambers and raised living beds. We guarantee a baseline 85%+ vigorous sprouting vigor.

85%+ Germination Certified
Pillar 04

Zero-Chemical Agronomy

Our mother parent plants are nourished solely by traditional fermentations: Jeevamrutha, Beejamrutha seed priming, and neem-pungam Agniastra sprays for naturally pest-hardened seeds.

Agronomic Scientific Rigor

How Every Batch Earns the Krishna Seeds Guarantee

Before seeds reach your home garden or farm, each mother variety undergoes rigorous phenotyping, varietal trueness assessment, and temperature-shock germination tests.
